Why do dogs bite

Have you ever wondered why dogs actually bite?

I am an Animal Psychologist and a Dog Trainer and would like to reveal some of the reasons why dogs bite.

Firstly and most commonly they tend to bite when they are frightened. Fear is the main reason when they can bite.

If the dogs find themselves in a situation where they feel uncomfortable and threatened they can bite for self protection.

Usually it happens when the dog is in a new unfamiliar environment.

For example if the dog has never traveled and suddenly finds himself in a crate surrounded with unknown people, being in uncomfortable conditions it all can lead to fear, feeling unsafe and evolving instinct to bite.

Don’t think that there’s something wrong with your dog, it’s just a natural reaction. Your dog is fine.

First of all we need to talk to the dog and explain what is going to happen. If you know that your dog doesn’t adapt well you need to consult with a veterinarian.

If your dog is not crate trained you need to train your dog to get to know the crate, to see that it’s not scary, that the crate is a safe place to be and a nice place to relax. Your dog should have a positive experience with the crate.
